In Istanbul's Dolmabahce Palace and Museum you will see the traditional Ottoman life in its finest and luxurious conditions , where engineers blended the style of Rococo , which relies primarily on aristocracy in sculpture and photography , and the Baroque style characterized by curved shapes and the sophisticated decorations used for columns and paintings , as well as neo-classical Greek-inspired art .

The place where the palace was built was a natural harbor that was stuffed and drenched in dirt at the beginning of the seventeenth century , to become a garden for the sultans , where it was called " Dolmabahce " which means " the stuffed garden " .

Dolmabahce Palace was the home of six sultans , and after the abolition of the Ottoman Caliphate , Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , the founder and the first president of the Republic of Turkey , used the palace as the headquarters for the presidency during the summer , and some of his most important works were held here , as he died in it , where he preferred to spend the last days of his medical treatment in a room designated for him , and it is now considered as a part of the museum , and it is worth noting that he died at 9:05 so his room clock was stopped at this time , as an evidence of sorrow for his death .

On November 10 , at 9.05 a.m. every year , life in Turkey stops for a few minutes , in perpetuation and grief over the death of the founder of modern Turkey .

The construction of this palace began in 1843 , by order of Sultan Abdul Hamid I , and was completed in 1856 , and the construction cost amounted to 35 tons of gold , as they used fourteen tons of it to paint the 45.000 square meters of ceilings , which rise on a floor area of 110.000 square meters of lush gardens and trees .

The inner section of the palace consists of 285 rooms and 46 halls divided into three parts : the Sultan's Council section , the ceremonies section and a final section dedicated to the Sultan's hareem , and this palace is a testament to the attempts to open the Ottoman Empire to Europe .

This palace has witnessed many important incidents , including the arrest of the statesman , Medhat Pasha , by his supporters , and in front of the palace is the ladder of successors of the victors in world wars .

The palace introduced a new definition of real estate design in Istanbul , and that was the result of luxurious architectural design , through displaying both Andalusian and Turkish architecture . The inner and outer structure of the palace reflects the European architectural character , which has been worked on with great care , as it has emerged through the inscriptions that fill the palace . He supervised the construction of the architectural palace ( Zühtü Paşa ) , and his son ( Grabet Balyan ) proceeded to work after him .

The palace has had a huge impact on the real estate sector , resulting in a rise in house prices in Turkey , especially in that region , and despite that , the charm of the area surrounding the palace will push you to buy real estate there .
